What Is Massage?
Relaxation massage is hands-on bodywork focused on easing muscle tension, improving circulation, and lowering stress, rather than treating a diagnosed injury. Swedish massage, the foundation of our menu, uses long, flowing strokes and kneading to relax the whole body; hot stone massage adds heated basalt stones that let warmth sink into tight muscles for deeper release. Both are wellness treatments designed around how you feel, not clinical rehabilitation.
At Mosaic Hair Salon & Medical Spa in Ottawa, massage is part of our wellness offering, delivered by Heather, our Medical Aesthetician & Wellness Specialist. Options run from a 30-minute Swedish massage at $60 to a 90-minute hot stone session at $130, with a foot massage, a 60-minute Swedish, and a dedicated Non-RMT Relaxation massage in between. To be clear and honest: these are relaxation services, not registered massage therapy, so they do not come with insurance receipts.
Clients choose massage at Mosaic because it pairs so naturally with the rest of the menu. A Swedish massage before a facial, a foot massage after a long week, or hot stones in the depths of an Ottawa winter turn an appointment into an afternoon of genuine downtime. Booking is simple, pressure is adjusted to your preference, and there is no treatment plan to commit to, just time set aside to unwind.

What to Expect During Your Massage Appointment
Arrival & Check-In
Arrive a few minutes early to settle in. Heather will ask about your areas of tension, your pressure preference, and anything to avoid, such as injuries or sensitivities. This is also the time to mention if you run warm or cold, since comfort details like that shape the whole session, especially for hot stone treatments.
Getting Comfortable
You will have privacy to undress to your comfort level and settle under the sheet on the table; you stay draped throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered. Prefer to stay partly clothed, as many foot massage and 30-minute clients do? Entirely fine. The room is quiet, dim, and yours.
Your Massage
Swedish sessions use long, flowing strokes and kneading, working through the back, shoulders, neck, legs, and arms as time allows; a 30-minute session focuses where you need it most. Hot stone sessions alternate heated basalt stones with hands-on work, letting warmth loosen muscles before deeper strokes. Pressure is checked and adjusted as you go.
Finishing & Re-Entry
Sessions wind down gradually rather than stopping abruptly, and you will have time to get up slowly and dress without being rushed. Drink water afterward, and give yourself a gentle re-entry into the day if you can. Some mild muscle soreness the next day is normal after deeper pressure.
Making It a Ritual
Most clients find a rhythm of every three to four weeks keeps stress and muscle tension from rebuilding. Many pair massage with a Japanese Head Spa or a facial for a longer wellness visit. Book your next session before you leave if you like a standing time; evenings and weekends fill first.
Massage is the part of my week where I get to slow everything down. I check pressure early and often, because the perfect massage for one person is too much or too little for another, and I would rather adjust five times than have you quietly endure. Come in stressed, leave lighter. That is the entire goal, and I protect it.
