What Is Facials?
A professional facial is a multi-step skin treatment, typically combining cleansing, exfoliation, targeted serums or technology, and massage, performed by a trained aesthetician and customized to your skin's current condition. Unlike at-home skincare, a facial treats your skin based on what a professional actually sees, which is why a good facial starts with assessment rather than a fixed routine. Done regularly, facials maintain skin clarity, hydration, and texture between more intensive treatments.
At Mosaic Hair Salon & Medical Spa in Ottawa, all facials are performed by Heather, our Medical Aesthetician & Wellness Specialist. The menu spans six options: a $30 Skin Analysis, the $90 Oxygen Facial, Contour Facial, and Microdermabrasion, the $180 Microfacial, and the $280 Full Package, our complete 90-minute experience. If you are unsure where to start, the Skin Analysis exists precisely so you do not have to guess.
Ottawa's climate is genuinely hard on skin: dry, overheated indoor air all winter and humidity swings in summer. Clients choose Mosaic because treatments are matched to what your skin needs that month rather than upsold by default. Men are as welcome as women, first-timers get a clear explanation of every step, and pricing is posted upfront so you can decide before you are ever in the chair.

How Much Does Facials Cost in Ottawa?
Facial pricing at Mosaic is straightforward. A Skin Analysis is $30 for 30 minutes and tells you exactly what your skin needs. The Oxygen Facial ($90, 45 minutes), Microdermabrasion ($90, 45 minutes), and Contour Facial ($90, 60 minutes) each target a single goal: glow, texture, or definition. The Microfacial is $180 for 75 minutes, combining microdermabrasion with customized treatments, and the Full Package is $280 for our most comprehensive 90-minute experience. Most clients start with the Skin Analysis or a $90 facial, then build from there.
What to Expect During Your Facials Appointment
Welcome & Skin Consultation
Your visit starts with a short conversation about your skin history, routine, and what is bothering you, followed by a close look at your skin under proper light. Whether you booked a specific facial or a Skin Analysis, Heather confirms the right treatment before anything touches your face, and adjusts the plan if your skin needs something different that day.
Deep Cleansing & Exfoliation
Every facial begins with a thorough double cleanse to remove makeup, sunscreen, and buildup, followed by exfoliation suited to your skin's tolerance. In Microdermabrasion and the Microfacial, this step uses a professional device to mechanically resurface dead skin; in gentler facials, enzymatic or manual exfoliation preps the skin instead.
Targeted Treatment
This is where each facial differs. The Oxygen Facial infuses oxygen and nutrient serums for immediate hydration and glow. The Contour Facial uses sculpting massage and lymphatic drainage for definition and natural lift. The Microfacial and Full Package layer multiple modalities into one session for deeper, more comprehensive results.
Mask, Massage & Finish
Your treatment closes with a mask matched to your skin's needs and a relaxing facial massage, then moisturizer and sun protection. Most of our facials have no downtime at all; Microdermabrasion may leave mild pinkness for a few hours, which settles on its own before the end of the day.
Results & Home-Care Plan
You leave with visibly fresher skin and a short, realistic set of recommendations: what to use, what to skip, and when to come back. For maintenance, every four to six weeks suits most skin. If you are working on a specific concern like congestion or dullness, Heather may suggest a closer series at first.
I never treat a face I have not looked at properly first. Skin changes month to month, especially in Ottawa's climate, so what you needed in February is rarely what you need in July. I will always tell you which facial fits your skin and your budget, even when that is the $30 analysis instead of the $280 package. Trust is the treatment plan.
